The Princess has been captured once again by the evil sorcerer! She really should stop hanging around in places where she's so easily caught. But that's beside the point now—let's go out and free her from the enchanted tower!
The board game The Enchanted Tower game puts one player in the role of the sorcerer who, at the start of the game, hides a key under one of 16 spaces on the game board. The other players collectively take on the role of Robin, who tries to find the key before the sorcerer gets to it. Regardless of who finds the key first, that player can try the key in one of the six locks on the tower; if they choose the correct one, the princess pops out of the tower, and that player wins. If not, the sorcerer hides the key again, and everyone returns to their starting locations.
The sorcerer begins the game on an auxiliary movement board that gives them 8 spaces they must cover, giving Robin time to first search different locations for the key. (Robin and the sorcerer are apparently magnetized, and when a character passes over the key's location, the key will "snap" to the underside.) How do the figures actually move? In each turn, the sorcerer rolls a die with a symbol that indicates which character moves first in that turn, while the Robin players take turns rolling the die, which has the same value for both Robin and the sorcerer. Thus, they race back and forth to reach a location that only the sorcerer knows. Will the princess find freedom again, at least for a while?
