Once upon a time, at the Japanese Imperial Court, the Chinese Emperor gifted a giant panda to the Japanese Emperor as a symbol of peace. Since then, members of the court (players) have faced a challenging task: maintaining the Emperor's favorite bamboo garden while the panda roams freely... and we all know that pandas love to eat bamboo.

The board game Takenoko (in Serbian) gives players the chance to cultivate the garden, irrigate it, and grow one of three types of bamboo with the help of the Imperial gardener to keep the Emperor’s bamboo garden beautiful and well-maintained. Players must also find a way to satisfy the holy animal’s insatiable hunger for juicy bamboo. The player who best manages their part of the garden, grows the most bamboo, and successfully feeds the panda will win the game.
